I can barely walk - but I can dance!
I had a great experience last week.
I was at the Nordic masters championship in swimming watching all the meet how people of all ages had great fun competing against each other and themselves.
At the party after the meet a woman came to me. Last time she was in Iceland for the same meet 5 years ago she was a young woman of only 80 years of age and danced all night. Now she talked about how nice it was to see me and how much fun it was to dance with me last time we met.
Then she told me that she was sad that we couldnt dance. I looked her and told her that there was both dancefloor and a band. I couldnt see what was keeping us from taking a dance. Her answer was that years had taken its tow and now she could barely walk.
I looked her and said:” I didnt ask you to take a walk with me - I asked you to dance with me. Dancing and walking is not the same”
After a few seconds of thought she smiled came with me to the dancefloor.
THAT is attitude to life: I can barely walk - but I can dance.
Maybe this attitude to life in her family that helped her gran daughter win and olympic medal in swimming this summer. First olympic swimming medal for Denmark in 20 years!
I really like the personal touch. This story is heart warming. I may not be able to walk but I can dance.
That’s a very heartwarming story.. I hope she enjoys many more lovely dances..
